  • Description

Written for the Feast of St Thomas, the text of this four-movement piece was printed in the wordbook of the 1735-36 cycle as what is known as an Apostle Day cantata. As these pieces were only performed when the date fell on either a Saturday or a Sunday, "Selig sind" was only actually performed for the first time in 1738, hence the "a" after the volume number.
