The source material gives no explanation of why the solo part, which retains its trumpet-like character, is presented in two keys (D for trumpet and E for oboe or violin) while the lower parts are all printed in E. The movements are: Allegro (with some double stopping – or divisi? – in the top violin part), Largo and Giga.
