Heinichen had almost complete this three-act opera when disaster struck. Two of the Italian superstar singers had a tantrum over the composer's clumsy setting of the Italian text. When the Saxon Elector, August, heard about this, he cancelled the performance and dismissed Senesino and Berselli and the rest of the Italian opera troupe. Maxwell Sobel has based his completion of the work on instrumental works by the composer. The opera was recorded in this form by Il Gusto Barocco on cpo.
