This is the morning cantata for the 1st Sunday in Advent from a cycle of settings of Benjamin Schmolck's "Das Namenbuch Christi". The solo bass opens with piece with the full instrumental ensemble. A chorus follows, then a Da Capo aria for soprano, a further contrapuntal chorus and finally two verses of a hymn. No source has been found for the afternoon cantata for that feast.
