Written for the 4th Sunday of Lent, this solo cantata contemplates mankind's bittersweet redemption through Christ's death. Known as Laetare Sunday (the introit for the day being "Rejoice, O Jerusalem!"), this was a joyous day in an otherwise period of abstinence.
